PALEOZOIC PETROLEUM GEOLOGY OF THE ARABIAN PLATE: IMPLICATIONS FOR HYDROCARBON EXPLORATION
The main objectives of the study are to provide the sequence stratigraphy of existing hydrocarbon accumulations and relate these to the type reference sections of the Paleozoic formations of the Arabian plate. Factors described include those that control the hydrocarbon source rock generation, and the migration and accumulation of hydrocarbons within the Paleozoic reservoirs. This information is integrated with all the data used to establish potential plays in the region. We have carried out a detailed re-assessment of the hydrocarbon potential of the various Paleozoic sedimentary basins in the study area, together uaing all the available geological data. This has enabled the hydrocarbon habitat of each country to be established. The report ends with a summary, conclusions and recommendations.
